KAZ Minerals is a high growth copper company focused on open pit mining in the CIS region, with a proven track record for the successful delivery of greenfield mining projects. The Group seeks to deliver long term value to all of its stakeholders through the development and operation of large scale and low cost copper mines.
The copper market is forecast to enter a supply deficit in the medium term, as output from existing mines declines and demand from traditional and new sources continues to grow.
Amongst other uses, an increase in the supply of copper is essential for:
- Delivering the energy and transport infrastructure necessary for improving living standards in developing economies;
- Enabling the global transition to renewable energy generation, which is more copper-intensive than traditional energy generation; and
- Supporting increased utilisation of low emission technologies, such as electric vehicles.
