KAZ Minerals is committed to the professional development of its employees and to supporting the training of the next generation of mining professionals in Kazakhstan. KAZ Minerals also offers grants to promising students and provides a health and safety professional every month to train students in modern safety systems and procedures. The Group has continued funding the renovation of classrooms at nearby colleges. In 2019 as part of the 'Super College' project KAZ Minerals has funded the modernisation of classrooms in various colleges in the East Region and in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan.
Demonstration equipment has been installed at Ust-Kamenogorsk Multidisciplinary Technical College (East Region). Training classrooms for welders, electricians, mechanics and laboratory technicians have been renovated and equipped with modern technology equipment. Training equipment provided by the Group includes a JCB 8035 backhoe loader, a New Holland C227 crawler skid steer loader, and a Mitsubishi L-200. Feedback from the local community on the apprenticeship scheme has been very positive as the Group is opening up valuable employment and training opportunities for the local population.
