Mikhail Plotnikov

Experience

Mikhail Plotnikov has more than 20 years of experience in the mining and metals industry and public administration. He has extensive expertise in corporate governance, executive management support and the coordination of strategic initiatives.

As Executive Director of KAZ Minerals Group, Mikhail facilitates engagement between the Chair of the Board of Directors, the Group’s senior management and key stakeholders, while providing organisational and management support for strategic initiatives and priority corporate matters.

He has significant experience in coordinating management processes at Board level, together with an in-depth understanding of the business, the Group’s corporate structure and strategic decision-making processes.

He began his professional career in 2005 as Assistant to the Deputy Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region.

In 2006, he joined Kazakhmys Corporation, where he subsequently held the positions of Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of Kazakhmys Corporation LLC, Assistant to the General Managing Director of Kazakhmys PLC, and Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of KAZ Minerals Group.

From 2018, Mikhail worked as Assistant to the Chair of the Board of Directors of KAZ Minerals Group. In 2022, he became Head of the Office of the Chair of the Board of Directors, ensuring the coordination of the Chair’s activities and engagement with the Group’s senior management. In 2024, he was appointed Executive Director of KAZ Minerals Group.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Moscow State University of Service and the Faculty of Psychology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. He also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA) degree.
