Aizhan Balabatyrova

Aizhan Balabatyrova has served as Chair of the Management Board of KAZ Minerals Management since 1 April 2026. She joined KAZ Minerals in April 2025 as Group Treasurer and, in addition to overseeing liquidity management, funding, and financial risk management across the Group, she now also leads the Group’s strategic functions, including Public Relations, Government Relations, Marketing and Communications, and ESG.

Aizhan brings extensive experience in corporate strategy, finance, and business development across industrial and consulting sectors. She has held senior leadership roles, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Kazphosphate and KazAzot, where she oversaw finance and IT functions, strategic development, and ESG, led large-scale investment projects, secured financing, and drove enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.

In consulting, Aizhan worked at Ernst & Young, delivering strategy development, operational efficiency improvement, and business transformation projects for leading mining and financial institutions. She also held strategic roles at Philip Morris and Aitas Holding, focusing on operational planning, process optimization, and corporate structure development.

Aizhan holds an MBA from the Sloan Fellows Program at MIT Sloan School of Management and has completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. She graduated with honors from Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics.

At the international level, Aizhan represented MIT Sloan at the World Economic Forum in Davos and, in 2025, represented Central Asian projects at international events held in connection with the anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly, including initiatives of the United Nations Global Compact.

She has also contributed to research projects focused on pension system optimization.
