Aizhan Balabatyrova has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of KAZ Minerals Management since 1 April 2026. She oversees the Group’s strategic functions across Public Relations, Government Relations, Marketing and Communications, and ESG, as well as engagement with external financial stakeholders, including banks and the structuring of major transactions.
Aizhan brings significant leadership experience in corporate strategy, finance and business development across industrial and advisory sectors. She has held senior executive roles, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Kazphosphate and Kazazot, where she led finance, IT, strategy and ESG functions, managed large-scale investment programmes and financing initiatives, and drove enterprise-wide transformation projects.
Earlier in her career, Aizhan worked at Ernst & Young, where she was involved in delivering strategy, operational efficiency and business transformation projects for major mining and financial organisations. She also held strategic roles at Philip Morris and Aitas Holding, focusing on operational planning, process optimisation and corporate development.
Aizhan holds a Sloan Fellow MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where she represented the school at the World Economic Forum in Davos and participated in research projects on pension system optimisation. She also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School and graduated with honours in Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
