Aliya Sokolova

Experience

Aliya graduated with honours in International Economic Relations from the Finance University under the Russian Federation and completed an Exchange programme with Potsdam University, Germany.

Aliya started her career as a business consultant in Ernst & Young in 2006 and one year later, moved into a banking sphere. Aliya has over 20 years of experience in finance and has held various leading roles in major international banks, including Credit Agricole, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and VTB Bank. As a senior banker, Aliya was responsible for developing business in new regions through the origination and execution of multi‑billion‑dollar transactions, while providing the largest corporate clients in the CIS with a full range of banking services. She played a pivotal role in arranging the leveraged buyout facility for KAZ Minerals in 2021, which enabled the Group to de‑list from the LSE and transition to private ownership.

In her capacity as Chair of the Supervisory Board of the parent company, Trianon Limited, Aliya provides oversight of the Group’s Corporate Finance and Treasury departments, with a focus on capital structure optimisation, liquidity management, value enhancement and ensuring the Group’s long‑term financial sustainability.
