Service and troubleshoot
Ability to understand advanced process control theory, along with DCS logic to assist in troubleshooting, and optimizations of current expert systems and circuit operations.
Direct and coordinate activities in the field of metallurgical automation and process control, ensuring the associated circuits are performing at optimum and sufficient support is given to ensure optimal performance.
Lead, mentor and train subordinates on existing expert systems for crushing, grinding and recovery circuits
Demonstrate strong understanding of instrumentation, DCS principles of operation, in order to interact with this system as well as PI for information gathering, data analysis and report generation
Providing technical advice to both maintenance and operation teams, along with developing and maintaining databases, reports and monthly statistics.
Support Mine to Mill automation and optimization tasks to reduce energy consumption whilst maintaining production and reducing costs
Coordination with other company groups, both within and without the Concentrator Department, the latter including the Mining, HSE, Human Resources and Finance Departments.
Ensure that communications are timely and efficient with regard to customers within the overall operations teams, as well as responding to the needs of the service groups, e.g.: HR, accounting, IT, etc.
Provide leadership with the Metallurgical Team to ensure that they work efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits;
Effectively communicate and work as part of a team to establish and implement departmental policies, objectives and procedures;
Provide leadership for subordinate staff, including activities such as preparing work schedules, preparing job descriptions and assigning specific duties and tasks;
Select, train and develop candidates for subordinate roles with an eye towards those with exceptional talent for promotional and succession planning opportunity;
Lead and mentor the key departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables are consistently realized within their areas of accountability;
Ensure that the highest safety, health and environmental standards are met or exceeded;
Promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices amongst all employees and contractors, which will enable a healthy and accident-free working environment.
Implement other tasks given by Line Manager within own competence.
POSITION KEY REQUIREMENTS
High degree of education with specialization in mineral processing, metallurgy or any related discipline
5 years of experience in large scale processing plants with high degree of knowledge in advanced process control of unit operations, DCS (ABB) programming and use of PI
Knowledge of concentrator technical process equipment and understanding of fundamentals to achieve production grades and recoveries.
Ability to develop testwork on the recovery, optimization of copper concentrator and advising on modern operating practices.
Familiarity with simulation and modelling software like JKSimMet or MetSIM is highly desirable
Effective programming skills and proficient in Microsoft office applications and business software knowledge is desirable (Oracle)
Knowledge of the RoK legislative and other normative acts, methodological and other materials relating to metallurgy activities.
Knowledge of the basics of RoK Labor Code, internal work order, HSE rules and regulations and fire safety requirements.
Ability to prioritize tasks with an unwavering commitment to safety and best practice.
Ability to lead presentations and discussions and to maintain composure under stressful situations.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
