1. Carry out rock mass characterization (outcrop mapping, core logging and etc.) to develop pit geotechnical model and derive geotechnical parameters for slope stability calculations. 2. Carry out slope stability calculations using empirical, analytical and numerical techniques for pit walls and waste dumps design. 3. Review the feasibility study pit slope design criteria and ensure that pit slope parameters used for mine planning are optimal. 4. Geotechnical support for short/medium/long term mine planning, mine production and input for blast design. 5. Carry out regular visual and instrumental geotechnical monitoring of open pit to identify ground control hazards. 6. Develop and implement Trigger Action Response Plans to manage potential ground control hazards (TARP). 7. Develop and implement Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP). 8. Carry out Ground Control Awareness training for mine personnel. 9. Design and control of execution of slope depressurization activities. 10. Upon request, provide geotechnical support to Processing divisions. 11. Carry out other tasks as directed by Line and Functional Managers. 12. Carry out duties of Geotechnical Superintendent in his/her absence.
POSITION KEY REQUIREMENTS
Open pit geotechnical experience. Experience in Surpac or any other similar geological modelling software. Structural geology, hydrogeological experience. Good technical reporting skills. Minimum 5 years of open pit mine geotechnical work experience. University Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or Geology, graduate level degree preferred. Good English skills. Good knowledge of rock engineering and simulation based design using specialized geotechnical software (Rocscience, Itasca and etc.). Good knowledge of drafting software Autocad, mining engineering software Surpac and/or Datamine, and MS Office.
