Electrical and Instrumentation Technical Specialist
JOB DUTIES:
Direct and coordinate electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities of the 2 processing plant (oxide + sulphide), auxiliary infrastructure (water supply, camp, etc) and, electrical reticulation to and around the mine site during the Operational Readiness, post commissioning and production ramp up stages.
Work directly with Supply Chain personnel to manage materials inventories to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
Maximize plant runtime and production through leadership and direction of staff and communication and coordination with the operations, training and metallurgy groups inside the Process Department and with internal groups such as Mining and HSE.
Ensure that communications are timely and efficient with regard to staff, senior management and other groups as appropriate. This communication will include and senior site meetings, reports as determined by senior management, programmed coordination meetings with operations and maintenance and other meetings as required.
Manage and monitor electrical and instrumentation employees to ensure that they work efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits.
Work as part of a team to establish and implement departmental policies, objectives and procedures.
Provide leadership for subordinate staff, including activities such as preparing work schedules, preparing job descriptions and assigning specific duties and tasks.
Select, train and develop candidates for subordinate roles with an eye towards those with exceptional talent for promotional and succession planning opportunity.
Lead and mentor the key departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables are consistently realized within their areas of accountability.
Ensure that the highest safety, health and environmental standards are met or exceeded and promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices.
Implement other tasks given by Line manager within own competence.
REQUIREMENTS
Higher (or postgraduate) education in the relevant specialty and work experience in the specialty for at least 3 years.
Certification in High Voltage electrical equipment maintenance and repair; and knowledge of electrical safety to the Qualification Group V.
3-5 years of experience at similar Electrical and Instrumentation supervisory roles preferably in Fixed Plant Ore Processing Facilities or similar heavy industry.
Maintenance experience on large drives as well as HV and MV experience.
Experience in managing electrical and instrumentation sections, which requires a solid working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, SCADA and PLC plant control and Radiation Safety.
Exposure to start-up operations.
Practical knowledge in managing a computerized maintenance system.
Proven experience in managing inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment and ensures reorders of spares are effective.
Practical knowledge in strategic and annual planning, budgeting and applications for capital investments.
Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation maintenance requirements.
Knowledge of maintenance and fault finding principles and processes.
Knowledge of the RoK legislative and other normative acts, methodological and other materials relating to electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities.
Knowledge of the basics of RoK Labor Code, internal work order, HSE rules and regulations and fire safety requirements.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and AutoCAD.
Experience with ABB / Alan Bradley systems is desirable.
Driver’s License (B category).
Developed communication, leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations and conflicting priorities while providing leadership and direction.
