Participate in arrangement of requests and related estimates for DCS and Control System equipment, materials, and spare parts purchase.
Participate in development of the long-term facilities development plan, efficiency improvement plans, renovation plans, and technical modification of Aktogay Mine and Concentrator, implementation of automation of operation processes, approval of reconstruction projects and modernization of the control and expert systems of Aktogay Mine and Concentrator and its associated facilities.
Drafting of technical specifications for design and implementation of new and upgraded facilities, in particular related to the control system equipment and expert/fuzzy logic control systems.
Provide technical opinions on development projects, participate in testing and commissioning of newly implemented or upgraded systems.
Oversight of works concerning the DCS system and site PLC equipment
Work directly with Supply Chain personnel to manage materials inventories to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
Ensure that communications are timely and efficient with regard to staff, senior management and other groups as appropriate. This communication will include senior level site meetings, reports as determined by senior management, programmed coordination meetings with operations and maintenance, and other meetings as required.
Select, train, and develop candidates for subordinate roles with an eye towards those with exceptional talent for promotional and succession planning opportunity.
Lead and mentor the key departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables are consistently realized within their areas of accountability.
Ensure that the highest safety, health, and environmental standards are met or exceeded and promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices.
Implement other tasks given by Line Manager within the employee’s competence.
Develop and improve business processes, systems, tools and training to improve human factors outcomes and decisive task load for controllers.
Undertake a leading role in moving the Sulphide Plant from a largely manual controlled environment to a facility managed by expert systems in order to maximize tonnage, recovery, concentrate grade, and copper production as well as to safeguard plant equipment.
Maintain and improve the reliability and safe operating parameters for process control systems
Apply industry leading standards including; International Society of Automation (ISA), International Electro Technical Commission (IEC), and Australian Standards Association (ASA)
Optimize control room performance and associated interfaces with a view to increasing the overall level of automation productivity with control room environment.
Provide commissioning and start up support for forthcoming projects and system upgrades
Provide support for network engineering tasks and network infrastructure management for operational technology and systems.
Undertaking troubleshooting and configuration of network devices, switches, smart relays to ensure optimal network availability.
Support and troubleshoot PLC, 800xA DCS system, Profibus and Modbus networks and support troubleshooting of IEC61850 network and associated hardware.
Undertake a campaign for Alarm Rationalization for DCS systems on the site.
Promote PI and DCS integration within engineering and operations group for metallurgy, control room operators, and other engineers. This would include PI process-book and excel KPI bible for use by technical service group, maintenance and reliability, and operation’s staff.
Involve system suppliers for training and implement program to improve plant monitoring plan and to increase skill level of national staff.
Provide support and mentoring for DCS engineers and Network Engineers
Coordinate reviews of network design and set-up to minimize network storms and data loss as well as reduce associated production downtime from such events.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Higher (or postgraduate) education in the relevant specialty and work experience in managerial positions for at least 5 years at concentrators or other heavy industry enterprises.
Preferably master's degree in control systems or Advanced Control and Systems Engineering
Availability of electrical safety certificate to the Qualification Group 4.
10-15 years of experience at similar Control system or DCS supervisory roles preferably in Fixed Plant Ore Processing Facilities or similar heavy industry.
Maintenance experience for Allen-Bradley PLC systems and ABB 800xA distributed control platform.
Exposure to start-up operations.
Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations and conflicting priorities while providing leadership and direction.
PC skills - Microsoft Office and Oracle.
